As part of a three-stop Canadian tour supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, Outer Worlds will screen in Edmonton at the TELUS World of Science IMAX Theatre. Accompanying the program will be a recent restoration of Graeme Ferguson’s landmark IMAX film North of Superior (1971). Curator Janine Marchessault and artist Leila Sujir will be in attendance for a Q&A.

Hanover 2025

As part of the Fabulous Festival of Fringe Film, Outer Worlds played at the Hanover Drive-In, in Hanover, ON. The program was preceded by two works of historical large-format filmmaking: Christopher Chapman’s A Place to Stand (1967) and Graeme Ferguson’s North of Superior (1971).

Kingston 2024

As part of a visit to Kingston that also involved artist and curator talks at Queen’s University, Outer Worlds played at the Screening Room, 120 Princess Street. In attendance were (left to right) Outer Worlds technical advisor Jorge Zavagno; sound designer Mani Mazinani; artist Oliver Husain; curator Janine Marchessault; and artist Leila Sujir.

Montreal 2023

As part of Concordia’s Thinking Allowed project, Outer Worlds screened Thursday, October 19th at the IMAX Telus Theatre, Montreal Science Centre. The screening featured a new sound mix of Michael Snow’s final film, Cityscape.

Oliver Husain, Mani Mazinani (Michael Snow’s collaborator and representative) and Leila Sujir were present for a Q&A, moderated by Janine Marchssault, following the screening.

Prior to the screening, the Thinking Allowed project presents a day of panel talks about IMAX and immersive screen experience at 4th Space, featuring scholars, curators and artists. The Outer Worlds artists (along with Kelly Richardson via Zoom) will be talking about their work and experiences of working with IMAX on a panel at 15:00h. These talks are free and open to the public. This screening is organized by the “Locating Transnational Collaborations in the Early History of Imax Films and Architectures (1970-1990)” research project at York University, funded by the Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Toronto 2019

As part of Images Festival, Outer Worlds premiered on April 18th 2019 at the Cinesphere at Ontario Place in Toronto to a packed house. All of the artists were present and a Q&A moderated by Janine Marchessault and Christian Kroitor took place after the screening.
